Etsy Monday: Keeping it Local

Recently, my mom sent me a link to an article from a local paper pertaining to Etsy.  I became an Etsy addict about 2 years ago, and have been advocating the site ever since to all my friends and family, so she thought I may be into it.  The article was about some local sellers and how the site has helped them gain buyers by providing a platform for them to display, sell, and promote their work.  It was pretty interesting.  These sellers created a SoMd Etsy group to help each other out, so I decided today I would go there and feature some local sellers relative to my own hometown.

I would like to challenge you all to search for sellers local to your own area... it is a greener way to go!  Packing supplies are not always green, so eliminating the use of so many packing peanuts has to help the environment, right?  Not to mention most or all supplies used were probably also bought locally, so all in all, by purchasing locally, you are helping boost your local economy!

In other news, my birthday weekend was wonderful!  I loved the new Pirates movie a ton, and the 3D was just enough to add dimension and not be too gimmicky!  I had a beautiful cranberry glazed chicken cooked in Sam Adams beer and seasoned with rosemary and garlic for dinner on Saturday, followed by Sunday's super tasty steaks made by Patchie's Boy, and later I had grilled marinated chicken strips with sweet baby carrots, green beans and applesauce.  Yum!  Today I treated myself to a "hot pig/cold pig" sandwich (that is what I call bacon and glazed ham on bread) with cucumber and lettuce at my favorite locally owned and operated deli.  For being that person who says they are never hungry, I sure ate a lot!!!

I also received a ton of wonderful goodies, including earrings, two necklaces, an Adipose (eep! So cute!), Bacon Mints, Cupcake Mints, a gift card to Cracker Barrel, and... my very own Olympus E-PL2 in white (thanks to Bear)!  Drool.  I love it.  Patchie also took me on a day trip to Arena Theatre to see Ruined, which was amazing, and we walked around downtown DC and took a ton of photos of the Capital and a million other historic buildings and statues.  It was perfect and low-key and I loved every minute of it!  I promise to post pictures soon!
