Etsy Monday: Saying "See You Later"

So the wedding is over!  Overall, it was a success.  Sure, things were forgotten, some things didn't go the way they were supposed to, and sometimes I thought my blood pressure might reach dangerous heights, but in the end, they were married and everyone had laughed, cried, and eaten.

The best part about weddings is that they bring people together, like Bear's brother and sister-in-law who live in Phoenix, AZ.  Seeing them is always a bonus, and spending time with them is something Bear and I always look forward to!  Today we are bringing them up to Baltimore to see some other local friends and prepare to fly home.  We will miss them terribly.

Today's Etsy post is all about the desert: the beauty, the serenity, and the home of a couple of people we really love and miss.

One thing I love about the desert is the simplicity of shapes and saturated colors...

The natural landscape is so beautiful, even when you wear it!

The flora is gorgeous and wild...

... they double as decorative elements in homes and on people!

You feel completely a part of your surroundings there.

The landscape has so many literal and abstract representations, all of which invoke the feeling of being in the desert.

When the sun sets and rises across such a flat landscape, everything because an architectural image.

...and the history of the peoples who lived and live there is such a strong influence even today.

Even though we are sad to see them go home, we can't wait to visit again!  This time, Patchie and her Boy may come, too!  I always feel at peace in the desert, where the dry heat clears my mind and the simplicity of the landscape unclutters my vision.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  This Friday I plan to share some detail shots from the wedding, as well as some photos of us hanging out around town!
