End of a Season

I am officially done with running my own business.  It's a little bittersweet.  It's good on the one hand, because I am not a very good self-manager.  This is true in all aspects of my life... I am still writing thank-you cards from the wedding and I am always in a state of "quitting" smoking.  Add in the passing of money from clients to my own hands, and I really had to ride myself to get things done in a timely manner.  And the perfectionist in me is NEVER content with my work.

Anyway, Steve and Susan were married about a month ago, now.  I finished the photos, and my CD burner bit the big one.  It's been tempermental, but now it is completely useless.  So I bought a 16GB flashdrive for them, with all the photos on it.  I suppose they could reuse the drive if they wanted to (if you guys read this, save those photos to CDs or an external or something first, okay?!), but at least it's a way to convey over 8GB of photos safely!  I am posting one of my absolute favorite ring shots here.  In looking over my work, I am noticing that my photography of inanimate objects is much better than my portraiture.  I think so, anyway.

So, that is done.  I am hoping to spend more time photographing because I once loved to do so.  I hope to get back to that wild, messy love affair... the one in which I was always clinging to the camera as if it were an extension of myself, and I would be lost without it.  I want that passion back.  I am hoping that will happen now.

In other news, Bear and I are actually taking a week long vacation this year!  We've gone on vacations before, but usually with large groups of friends.  This one is with my family, but we don't spend a lot of time with them, so we are looking forward to it.  I can't wait for him to see the lake house, which was my safe zone as a kid.  I'll write more about that later.  With pictures.  Pictures that I will take because I love to take pictures.  haha

If you are bored and looking for some amazing eye candy and beautiful words... seriously, amazing stories and images here... visit my most recently stumbled upon blog.  I've been reading Nirrimi's story for the past couple of days, and I am dumbfounded by her youth.  She is one of those wise beyond her years and possibly old souls kind of people.  So inspiring and lovely.

Until next time!
