Photobomb Friday: Cute Animals

I realize this is really, really late.  But I had no internet all day.  And then there was an evening commitment...

Anyway... here's some adorableness for you!  From domesticated to wild animals!  Awww.

All wild animals were photographed last year at the Phx Zoo, where my future sister-in-law works.  I got to meet a lot of animals really close up!  It was awesome!  You can also buy prints of many of the images, as well as others I have taken,  here!

The World According to Zia Maida...

Zia Maida, more commonly referred to as "Z" in our home, is our youngest and most fluffy furbaby.  She has a peculiar outlook on life:

Don't take the stairs between the rails... it is far more interesting to balance on the outside ledge.

There is no danger in walking on top of the narrow rail on our second story porch... it heightens the suspense.

Moths are alive for the sole purpose of hunting, catching, spitting out, and pinning again just as they think they have escaped.

Book shelves are just fancy kitty hidey-holes with books that are fun to chew on... and the pages clean your teeth of moth residue.

When feeling neglected, mew for the attention of people... and then cry abuse when they pet you.

The recessed fridge is only a fancy, upside-down cat door and lounging area.

Just when the people go to sleep, pull out the crazy eyes and run around tossing expensive and breakable things!

When the people get you things to play with, snub those things and go for something they wish you didn't notice.

Lick yourself in front of the people when they want to photograph you... and then glare at them for being so rude as to document a private bath moment.

And always, ALWAYS act like you own everything!

Stop and Appreciate

Today I am taking a moment to stop and think back on all the wonderful nature images (and pet pictures!) I got this past week.  I took a ton of photos for the wedding that I have been editing like a crazy lady, and with all the weddingness going on around me, it's beginning to feel overwhelming!  So I decided today would be about the little things that have made me smile.

Sometimes, the best things are the littlest.

Photobomb Friday: We have MiFi!

Again, I bring you Friday's post on a Saturday... but I can because we got Mifi!  Which means I have internet at home (at least whenever Bear doesn't take it with him to work...)!

We are still working like crazy getting this place ready for guests and weddingness... the countdown is at a WEEK.  I've been having crazy stress nightmares that are simultaneously frightening and hilarious.  Bear is also setting lights for the Local Theatre's current show, so a lot of housework is falling to me right now.  It's so stressful, but it will all be worth it!

I am so lucky to have two jobs that are graciously letting me take time off for prep starting Thursday, but I probably won't be posting here as often as the wedding looms nearer.  I have a lot to do, from making decor to organizing my photo equipment and meeting with Patchie who will be my Second Shooter (her first wedding gig!).

So, today I am Photobombing adorable kitten photos to promote smiles and relieve a little stress.  Aw, kitties!

The Scottish Fold above is was my Aunt's beloved Angus.  Sadly, he passed shortly after I took these pictures.  But, they are getting a new Scottish Fold Kitten, named Cooper!  My Aunt is from Scotland, and apparently the Scottish Fold breed were discovered in or originally bred in Coupar Angus, Scotland.  I have such clever family!

And because they are so darn difficult to photograph, I am reposting these images of Rummy and Dart:

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

PS- Notice a lack of Grateful posts?  I am the worst at keeping up on one of those photo-a-day challenges.  Hopefully sometime soon it will make a comeback.  I am so ashamed... and just plain busy!

Playing Catch-Up

Not to be confused with ketchup.  Ew.  (I'm allowed my "ew", I can't eat tomatoes.  Don't cry for me... Argentina..., I only miss the little cherry tomatoes.  Otherwise, I feel it's no real loss.)

An old cell phone picture of old entrance to kitchen (Cyn is in the doorway!)  Not pretty.  Look at that carpet!  Bleh.  There is a 2x4 holding up our countertop there... and the microwave is on a rolling cabinet from the 1980's that was once painted white,, and has since turned grey.

Lately, we've been renovating our "kitchen", which had blue carpet and yellow and blue walls and a hideous blue flower wallpaper edging around the ceiling. It was once Bear's childhood bedroom (with a different paint job back then!).  The house we live in is divided into apartments, and we have the upstairs, which was originally designed for Bear and his brother and sister when they were kids.  Because our space originally had three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a common "game room", we have had to do a lot of work to make it work as an apartment.  One room is our master bedroom (it was his older sister's room and has it's own bathroom).  Another is our office space/ guest room/ music room/ studio.  The "game room" is now the "living room".  And we are in the process of turning the last bedroom into a REAL KITCHEN!!!

I'm sure I haven't mentioned that... right?  Maybe once?  Or... constantly?

We knocked down walls and painted the room "Toasted Apricot", as well as repainted the hall wall a brighter blue.  No more carpet!!!  The color is pretty intense at the moment, but once the cabinets, backsplash, etc are installed, and we get the hutch and furniture back in (we have all really dark wood furniture), I think it will be perfect!  By the way, this is the same viewpoint as the first picture!!!

Clearly, I am excited!  We've been working non-stop, knocking down walls, painting, installing new flooring, patching walls, rewiring things, measuring, running to Lowes, Home Depot, then Lowes again, looking online for things, getting my parents and his to help, wrangling cats and dogs from open paint cans... it's tiring but so wonderful!  I can't wait for everything to come together!

See?  We started with the left, found supplies and made a plan (center, but we opted for the deeper apricot shade under the one pictured; you can kinda see our shade poking out), and now are on the right... well, actually a little more has been done since this last shot...

Please forgive the lack of creative posting... I am just so incredibly preoccupied.  We're also getting the house ready for Bear's sister's wedding which takes place here in June!  It's just plain crazy town where we are right now!

Regardless, I will keep posting as planned, Monday - Friday, and hopefully I will get posts back to interesting topics.  This little blog is becoming very important to me... my little corner of the universe as it were.  I hope it will continue to grow over time.  It's one of the few things I have been completely dedicated to since getting started, and I am loving learning about so many other people... and myself.

Well, I will be back tomorrow with some wedding things!  Today, Patchie and I may be meeting up for another romp through the State Park (which will be nice, since my morning will involve lugging a ton of 2x4's to the dump and painting a million cabinets, and yet another run to Lowe's!).  I talked about it for the last Photobomb on Friday, and you can see the park through Patchie's eyes here!!!

She took a bunch of photos of me looking awkward with way too many cameras hanging off my neck...

Have a lovely Tuesday!
